HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

It's been a very busy month.  We're just about finishing up with all our holiday orders and looking forward to relaxing a little.

Below are a few recent corsets, I've barely had enough time to snap pictures as  things are going through.  First corset is a Sabrina with tapered straps done in the silvery white butterfly brocade at the center front and back with burgundy satin sides and trim.

This is a Victoria style corset made in pink/peach silk doupioni with a William Morris fabric at the center front.  Top and bottom trim is a green velvet.  Doesn't show in the pictures but she is also wearing long green velvet pantaloons with 2 rows of pink silk elastic casings towards the bottom.

Below is a front lacing corset inspired by the picture of the 3 graces on the first page of my site.  This is an underbust corset made in pink bengaline.  This corset extends to 12" below the waist line, providing excellent hip shaping and tummy support.  Overbust versions are an option as well.

More brocades added to fabrics page 3

Well, we've just returned home from another wonderful week in New Orleans.  It's such a fun place to spend Halloween weekend.  Had many strolls through the Quarter and garden district.  Spent time with our good friends down there.  Had lots of good food, my favorite is the tiramisu at Napoleon House on Chartres St.

Below is are a few pictures of the red leather Edwardian overbust with the embellishments.  The front of the corset has handmade red satin roses with a large beaded rose at the center front.  Separate from the corset is a leather bustle ruched in the back, open in the front.

22 Oct

First picture below is of an Edwardian Overbust style corset in red leather.  This picture was taken before embellishments, more pictures to come.  This corset has leather straps and satin rose embellishments with a large beaded flower at the center front.  Also pair with this corset is a red leather bustle.  This is one of the most fun wedding ensembles I've worked on.  I'll likely be posting the rest of the pictures once I've returned home from New Orleans.

2nd picture is a Victoria Corset in pinstripe linen with black silk trim.

7 Oct

Lots of new stuff to be posted here this week.

First picture is of a classic cincher done in black vinyl.  2nd is another classic cincher in beige with black velvet flocking.

And below is a bridal gown I'm currently working on finishing up in a creamy white satin under dress and cincher and an overdress in 2 layers of chiffon.  More pictures to follow.

20 Sept

Below is a picture of the 18th c. corset being worn by it's owner.  I must note that she made the hoop skirt and chemise being worn under the corset, and is in the process of creating a gown to be worn over.

31 Aug

Below is a picture of a recent Valentine Victorian corset done in a beige silk center front and center back with a coordinating ivory/beige rose brocade on sides.  The first picture shows the corset with out straps, and the second with it's detachable straps.

Here's a few recent projects I've been working on since our return.  The first is a victorian underbust corset with a long line/butterfly bottom.  The cups are actually a separate boned & back lacing bra (picture of just the bra below).  When worn together it appears that it is all one piece.  Corset and bra are done in beige satin with a black lace overlay, center front and top and bottom trim in black satin, and the corset has a black braided trim highlighting the center front panels.  And to complete the ensemble is a silk organza skirt trimmed in satin ribbon.  The skirt opens in the front with satin ribbon ties and gradually drops down to floor length in the back.

Also below is a periwinkle camisole with a ruffled bottom and ruffled top.

We are back home from our wonderful 18 days in New Orleans.  Had lots of yummy foods, got rained on quite a bit, and  spent  time with our friends down there.  We miss it already, but luckily we'll be back in Oct. for our annual Halloween trip.

Things here are getting almost back to normal work wise.  I've got a very, very busy fall ahead of me, so any special orders for any of the holidays coming up should be placed soon.  With any luck I'll start updating pictures to this page again regularly in the next week or so.

Below is a picture of the baroque/elizabethan corset I've just finished up.  The recipient of this corset intends to wear it with elizabethan and baroque costumes, so it's a bit of a hybrid to accommodate both styles.
This corset was made in a pale green silk with triangular silver ornaments, trimmed in the same fabric and an ivory braided trim around the bottom hem.

27 june

I've just finished up a metallic silver leather Edwardian underbust corset.  Below are a couple pictures of the front and back.  This corset has a pointed rise at the center front, and comes high in the back.  The front bottom is shaped to accommodate legs and dips down at  side hips  very low (8") and rounds straight across in the back.

I have another new corset style I'm working on that I'll be posting pictures of by the end of the week.  It's a hybrid of baroque and Elizabethan style corsets.

21 june

Its been a very busy month and I have just not had time to get pictures of anything I'm currently working on, or to finish going through and resizing the pictures from vegas.  Hopefully I'll have a little time for this before the 10th when we depart for New Orleans, if not I'll be making updates once we get back.

4 june

We've just returned home from the Dressed to Thrill Ball in Las Vegas.  We had a great time, but we are completely exhausted now!  I'll be posting a few pictures from the event below.  The first is a picture of myself and persephone in her butterfly corset.  I'm wearing my new asymmetrical corset dress and matching neck corset, though the bottom shape doesn't show from this angle, there will be better pictures of this later.  Sitting is out of the question, I was on my feet for 6 hours straight!
We met a lot of very interesting people, and the costumes were absolutely fabulous as were the performances!!!  I'm putting a few pictures below of some of my favorites of the night.

16 May

Hot off the sewing machine are these cute new short bloomers.  Above the knee length with an elastic waist and elastic gathering at bottom with 2" lace trim.  In the next few days we will be posting pictures of a few more variations of this style as well as longer below the knee style bloomers.

These are available is standard sizes Small, Medium and Large in 100% cotton fabric (please provide natural waist measurement) for $45 with lace trim, $40 without lace.  Please allow 2 weeks for shipping.

11 May

Below are a couple pictures of a recent gown I created for my sister to wear to her senior ball.  This gown is made up in a bias cut eggshell satin and has a cowl neck front with a very low back.  The side front slit come all the way up the leg and ends in tight gathers which open up at the side hips to a more fan like shape.  The gathers are allowed to drape at the back giving a nice bustle effect, and the back hem of the gown drags by about 12" longer than the front.

29 April

New silks and lace fabrics added to fabrics page 3 (www.corsetmaker.com/fabrics3.html)

And below are 3 more recently completed corsets.  The corset on the right is a Valentine Victorian style in black satin covered in black lace with a hidden front busk closure

25 April

Below on the left is the first picture of a new cincher style.  Based on the butterfly bottom shape of the vintage 40's cincher I found.  And I thought what better fabric that the butterfly brocade.  This cincher sits low over the hips and has a little rise at the center front.  I'm offering this cincher at a discounted price for the first month, see the main catalog page for more info.

9 April

I've just completed the Edwardian underbust shown in the works below.  This corset features a 2.5" pipestem waist with an inside measurement of 20.5", even more impressive is that this corset is for a male client.  Also pictured is the finished neck corset and matching cuffs.  Corset, neck corset and cuffs all feature D rings.

22 March

I've just finished up with the red satin and leopard print corset shown in the works below.  On the left is the corset on my dressform, this corset is embellished with braided trim highlighting the center front panels and a smaller braided trim around the bottom of the corset.  The garters are ruched with satin ribbon with ribbon bows sewn to the corset where each  garter attaches.

On the right is the corset being worn by it's lovely recipient Persephone

11 March 2001

Here's a picture of the neck corset sewn together.  It is not yet boned or trimmed, and you can barely make out the D-rings sewn into the side seams.  This will have another D-ring placed at the bottom of the center front and bottom of center back.

7 March 2001

Here's another recently completed corset.  This corset was made in the green and black brocade fabric with the center front panel the reverse side of the fabric.  This is not possible with all fabrics, but works well with this one, I only wish I could get a better picture, but this fabric was difficult to photograph.  This is a variation of the butterfly theme, I'm thinking I'll call this version my Midnight Butterfly Corset.  This corset below has a tiny 17" waist.

5 March 2001

It seems that the leopard print is the fabric of the week here.  The corset on the left is an Edwardian underbust with a 2.5" pipestem waist.  And below it is a matching neck corset that comes up over the mouth.  These have a black brocade center front and center back and will be trimmed in the leopard print as well.

Happy Valentines Day!!
